During this difficult time, you will be faced with many decisions that need to be made. You want to honour your loved one with arrangements that properly celebrate their life, but you may be overwhelmed with the choices and the speed with which you need to make decisions. The Estates of Sunnybrook would like to offer our facilities for a memorial reception or celebration of life after the funeral service.

The Estates of Sunnybrook is a serene and secluded facility, housed in two historic homes that have been lovingly restored and are now used for hosting intimate private functions. We offer an elegant, residential atmosphere that will welcome your guests. Extensive grounds surround both homes, allowing your guests the freedom to stroll outside in good weather.


We are located on Bayview Avenue, between Eglinton and Lawrence, with easy access from downtown or out of town. Complimentary parking is available on site and both McLean House and Vaughan Estate are wheelchair accessible.

We have designed some simple food & beverage options that are suitable at most memorial receptions. Naturally, you are welcome to choose from our regular menu selection if what you find here isn’t appropriate for your event.

With their may years of experience, our caring and unobtrusive staff will ensure that your event runs smoothly, so that you are free to spend time with your guests. Hosting a memorial reception at The Estates of Sunnybrook also allows you to give back to the community – the profits from all events contribute to further medical research at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre.

At The Estates of Sunnybrook we have five areas that are suitable for memorials. The capacities of each and the rental costs are indicated on the chart below.

Your rental cost includes the following:

  • Use of the room(s) for three hours
  • A Maitre d', servers & bartenders as required
  • All linens, dishes, cutlery & glassware required
  • A CD player (please provide your own selection of CD’s)
  • An easel for displaying a portrait or photograph if required
Evening and weekend rental costs are also available. Please ask your Sales Representative for more details.

PAYMENT TERMS

The cost of a memorial reception consists of three simple components: the cost of renting the appropriate room (listed above), the cost of food for your guests, and the cost of beverage for your guests (listed on the following page). Food & beverage items are subject to a 15% service charge, and all items are subject to applicable taxes.

A guaranteed number of guests is required two days in advance of the event. This is the minimum number that you will be charged for. If additional guests attend, we will do our best to accommodate them, and you will be charged accordingly.

Full payment is due in advance of the event. Payment may be made by credit card, certified cheque or cash.

The following pages contain three options each for food & beverage. No substitutions are permitted to these options, however if none of them suit your needs, a Catering Representative would be happy to customize a menu for you.
